I hope this is sarcasm. There are women out there that have made this choice yet because they aren’t famous they don’t get recognized. There are women out there who die from cancer, who loose their hair. Her decision shouldn’t be praised. Sorry.

every woman that makes the decision to have her breasts removed is brave and is probably recognized on some level at least within her community. Just because Angelina is extremely famous and is receiving more recognition than the average woman does not take away from the fact that she made the life altering decision to remove her breasts when she could have kept them and lived out the rest of her life in her “normal” body and avoided the judgement of our dumb as fuck society.

She’s brave no matter what.

really though. like you are basically throwing shade at Angelina Jolie for being famous. the praise/admiration Angelina Jolie is receiving for her decision doesn’t invalidate nor diminish the bravery of the other non-famous individuals who have gone through the same things, and likewise, just because she IS receiving all this praise/admiration doesn’t mean she is somehow paradoxically undeserving of it. if anything I think Angelina Jolie’s fame and recognition can bring more exposure and awareness to this issue. i personally didn’t even know what a mastectomy was, let alone why it happened, until i read about her situation. like yes there are women out there who aren’t getting the same recognition as Angelina Jolie but that’s completely circumstantial. it’s not because Angelina Jolie is somehow more deserving of praise/admiration. she just happens to be a more prominent public figure and is thusly in a position to receive more of it.
